Since Baltimore had little to offer in the way of career opportunities, Timmy and Erich fell into the employ of a local gangster called Amos Burton, who Lydia also worked for as a prostitute. However, the original books and accompanying novellas provide a more complete picture of Amos' youth. Timothy was the son of a sex worker, but his birth mother died and Lydia took him in, having been a friend of Timmy's biological mom. The Expanse season 5's opening episodes cover Amos' backstory in broad strokes, but allow the audience to connect a few dots themselves. Wes Chatham's character also meets with Erich, a former friend from before Amos left Earth. Lydia was the first figure to show young Amos the right path through life. As each character embarks on their own separate adventure, Amos returns to his home city of Baltimore after learning about the death of a loved one. He visits the former home of Lydia, who is revealed to have acted as Amos' foster mother. Venturing around the Sol system, Amos hasn't had chance to dive into his backstory, but The Expanse season 5 allows the Roci crew to take a rare breather.
